No, not at all!! Rather he allows the Model to join him in collaboration while focusing on every area of the styling: the hair, the skin, the eyes, and the clothes... the WOMAN.
The love and appreciation that he clearly holds for women is displayed boldly in all that he creates. His photo unapologetically displays this.
Fortunately, I have had the chance to work with Mr. Mario on a beauty campaign, last year (please see UZURI article:Gillette Leuwat). This is where I got to witness first hand why he is currently called 'France hottest young photographer' 
Mario is fun, free, and relaxed yet VERY discipline and time conscious.
Trust me; this is something not-so common in Paris' fashion/beauty industry.
Most recently I caught up with Mario and asked him few questions regarding his passion, i.e. his work.
This is what he had to say:
SHAUN: Describe today’s fashion in your eyes-
Mario: Today's fashion is nonsense. I personally think that what every designer is doing is following the trends; also nonsense! It's all about style because fashion fades but style is eternal.
SHAUN: Inspiration-
MARIO: My inspiration comes from Africa's beauty, Women, Men, and nature.
SHAUN: What is the direction of your photography?
MARIO: The direction of my photography is (that) I must have a sense of sharing my culture with others while also showing another face of Africa
SHAUN: What is your muse-?
MARIO: My muse is the Black Woman
SHAUN: In one word please describe your style-
MARIO: Eternal...
I agree. Mario has a very unique balance of embracing the past- Such as embodying the depth and boldness of the late 70's and early 80's, vintage fashion photography.
Then his unique style and love for Africa and female expression to create something very new and fresh for today's fashion media and beauty landscape.
Since both Africa and women are eternal.
