Meet France's musical backbone... Mr. Oswaldo Nieto! This Parisian born, musical vessel, of Spanish heritage embodies all that is world music. Growing up listening to (primarily) American music; I.E- the Philly sound, Motown, 70's rock, etc... Later coming to appreciate more of his native sound, both French and Spanish – This unique musical fusion has since become a sound of his own.
After one of Oswaldo's shows in Paris I got a chance to sit down and talk to the man that gives such structure to the free flowing musicians that he often plays with..
And this is some of what he had to say:
Shaun- When did you know that singing/music was your passion?
Oswaldo- age 5 or 6; you see I come from a musical family. My father always dreamed of being a musician and while growing up my brother would play the guitar and I would sing.
Shaun- You seems to have such a vast knowledge of music. Growing up who would you say was your biggest influence?
Oswaldo- The Beatles!! Without a doubt… I played many years in a rockNroll band and I thought that I was (Bruce) Springsteen until I was 30! -He laughs-
Shaun- Tell us a bit about Oswaldo Nieto's TRIO. Who all makes up the band?
Oswaldo- Well TRIO consists of 2 other members;
Frantxoa Errecarret, Percussionist and Tony Ballester, Bass player. We all are pieces from other bands and we decided to come and play together a little over 2yrs ago. ~
When listening to Oswaldo play you realize that he descends from a long line of Latin Casanovas. His sound captures the best of Latin flavor and finesse. Infused with soulful reggae vibes and a pop appeal.

I refer to him as Frances' musical backbone because he provides structure and stability to every artist he collaborates with; Be it the dynamic Narjess Saad, touring bands performing in and throughout Europe, or his personal team of musicians known as TRIO- Oswaldo is clearly look to as the 'point man' or 'band leader' and playing with likes of legendary blue grass, and pop artist to one of the pioneers of rockNroll, Mr. Chuck Berry,
I would say that his respect is well deserved!
