Cooper, once a model and fashion coordinator at Ralph Lauren, recognizes the power of fashion in helping raise awareness of social causes.  "People look to fashion in the same way people look to wall street, to see who they should invest in," Cooper says. "Fashion can set a trend toward giving, and people will follow." 

 

 Recent MCF events are to benefit the opening of a six acre academy in Monrovia, Liberia this Fall.  The academy will feature five to six buildings, including a library and two residential halls.  The goal of the academy is to give orphaned children the ability to meet challenges outside of Liberia - drawing from her belief that an educated population is important for economic redevelopment in Liberia.  Cooper admits that raising money for projects and managing a nonprofit organization is not easy.  "You can't just want to do good and call it a day," she says.  "There are so many rules and regulations to abide by."  MCF initiatives include scholarships, feeding programs, and child sponsorships.

So what styles does a young, philanthropist dabble with?  "I am not a very trendy person," she laughs, "but I love seven jeans. I wear them often," she admits laughing about her coworkers who tease her about her million-dollar, understated every day style.  
 

 

 

 

 

 A simple black dress in another wardrobe stable of MacDella's.  "I can dress it down with a jean jacket," she says.  She also admits a fetish for Korto Momolu's pieces, who debuted her designs at MCF's end of NYC fashion week party last year.  "Her style is very 1970s.
